Regal Announces No. 1 Contender Match for Next Week

William Regal summons NXT Champion, Bobby Roode to his office to discuss the next challenger for the NXT Championship. Being the savvy businessmen he is, Bobby Roode suggests putting the undefeated Killian Dain up against the undefeated Drew McIntyre one-on-one next week. Regal agrees that it would be an excellent match with the winner going on to face the NXT Champion at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

Johnny Gargano Returns

In what I thought was going to be the main event of the night, Johnny Gargano finally made his return to NXT. The crowd was hot to finally see JOhnny wrestling back in the ring, and he was happy to be there. First addressing his best friend saying that “I never thought the guy I’d take a bullet for would be the one to pull the trigger.”  That absolutely, had me hooked however he never really capitalized on that momentum.

Gargano then went on to discuss how he can’t dwell on the past, but looks forward to NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, the biggest show of the year.

I honestly doubt this will be the end of the Ciampa/ Gargano feud. However, I found it sort of perplexing that Gargano’s promo so easily let bygones be bygones. After all, this was years of friendship and success left battered on the arena floor in Chicago. Surely, he could have come up with something better than the “looking forward” trope.
