2. Jinder Mahal

Assuming Jinder Mahal survives Punjabi Prison and beats Randy Orton for a third successive pay-per-view, he’ll need a new challenger at SummerSlam.

AJ Styles and Kevin Owens are locked in a United States Championship feud, and a Baron Corbin heel-versus-heel match wouldn’t make sense. Shinsuke Nakamura would make for an interesting Jinder challenger, but he too could wind up challenging Styles for the US Title.

Mahal’s status as one of the WWE’s top heels could be solidified with a feud against Cena, regardless of who walks away with the championship. Mahal’s anti-American gimmick has successfully drawn heat, and it would make a ton of sense for Cena to counter and shut him up.

If Cena wins, Mahal would still get the rub and maintain his role as one of the top heels on SmackDown even without the gold. Equally, Mahal could pick up a career-defining victory by actually beating Cena.

No matter who wins, there’s a story to be told between these two.
