Brock Lesnar Has No Idea What’s Awaiting Him
Coming out of Great Balls of Fire, the original main event for SummerSlam (for Raw at least) was going to feature Roman Reigns going up against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. That match is certainly enticing, and it is long overdue given the unfinished business these two men have. However, an angry Samoan Destroyer was eager to settle his score with the Beast Incarnate first.
Interrupting an encounter between Lesnar and Reigns inside the ring, Samoa Joe quickly voiced his opinion. Stating that the Beast had merely escaped defeat at GBoF, he said point blank that the next he meets Lesnar in the ring, he’s putting him to sleep. Lesnar seemed willing to accept another challenge from Joe, but his advocate Paul Heyman told the Samoan Destroyer he’d never see the title again.
From here, Joe and Reigns traded verbal jabs with one another until Kurt Angle made a huge match for this week. The Big Dog and the Samoan Destroyer will collide, with the winner facing Lesnar at SummerSlam. Many expect a definitive contender to be crowned tonight, but things aren’t always as they seem.
During tonight’s main event, Braun Strowman could potentially make his return and also declare his intention to battle for the Universal Championship. He’s been MIA since his ambulance match with Reigns at GBoF, and yet all signs point to his arrival on Raw. Should he do so, he’d probably lay waste to both Joe and Reigns before taking to the microphone. Then the Monster Among Men would coldly tell the Beast he’s gunning for him.
