3. Sami Zayn Comes Prepared to Neutralize Maria

Sami Zayn is a lovable dweeb. He’s played the sweetheart babyface since he arrived at NXT and no one is looking to change that. However, faces are best, and Zayn is excellent when he has teeth. He occupies a unique spot that we don’t get to see very often. He’s a comedy act that can’t be taken lightly in the ring. When he meets Mike Kanellis at Battleground, we expect him to be on the wrong side of a beating thanks to Mike’s secret weapon of his wife, Maria. Only, she’s not much of a secret at all. Maybe WWE likes to pretend that TNA doesn’t exist, but surely Zayn has bothered to watch some tape. He also fought the Miz and Maryse. He should know this game.

So what if Zayn comes prepared? No one will expect it, Zayn is trusting and naive. Maybe he’s not so trusting that he won’t expect Maria to cost him his match. If he brings along a manager of his own he can neutralize her involvement. That cuts off Mike’s strategy at the knees and allows Zayn to pick up an unexpected and extremely valuable win. It’s exactly what Zayn needs going into SummerSlam to work his way up the card.
