SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos (c) vs The New Day

There should be some rule in place when the rosters are split that if necessary, an emergency, division-specific roster shake-up should be allowed.  If that was a thing, the WWE tag team division would be screaming for it right about now.  The RAW brand currently hosts Cesaro and Sheamus, The Hardy Boyz, Gallows and Anderson, Heath Slater and Rhyno, and The Revival. Between WWE, NXT, and New Japan Pro Wrestling, that’s 17 world title between them.  That’s impressive.

Smackdown Live currently is home to the above two teams and then…….anybody else?  Oh yeah, there’s Breezango who is currently just a comedy gimmick, The Ascension who have been booked worse than Adam Rose, The Hype Bros. who seem are just about to break up, and they just lost American Alpha due to Jason Jordan supposedly being Kurt Angle’s kid. The blue brand needs to have some tag team life breathed into very soon or they’ll be in some serious trouble.

So with all that being said, the company really has no choice but continue the feud between The Usos and The New Day because really there is no other feud to be had.  Let’s use some conventional wisdom here.  At Money In The Bank in May, Jimmy and Jey walked out of their title defense against Big E and Kofi because they couldn’t handle what the bay faces were throwing at them.  So that would make it seem like a no-brainer that New Day will get the job done at Battleground, right?  That’s exactly why they’re not going to win.  The Usos keep the belts but the manner in which they win will be under protest meaning a Summerslam rematch, because as of right now, that’s the only option.

Winners and still champions: The Usos
