Flag Match
John Cena vs Rusev
Wow, where to even begin with this one. Maybe I’m currently living in negative town, but this match has “annoying” written all over it. Seriously, can anybody remember a good flag match. Better yet, can anybody remember a flag match at all? There were a few that took place in the 80’s and if anybody tries to say that the Corporal Kirchner versus Nikolai Volkoff flag match at Wrestlemania II was a barn-burner, well that person would need their head examined.
Now on one hand, it’s nice to see Rusev back. He’s a talented guy who deserves a chance to be great. The company has given him two cracks with the United States Championship but unfortunately for him he got saddled with feuds against Cena in 2015 and Roman Reigns in 2016. We all knew how both of those programs were going to end. But on the other side of this, it’s pretty clear that this match has absolutely nothing to do with Rusev and everything to do with Cena and his return to the ring on the 4th of July and what that eventually means for Summerslam. But we’ll get more into that later.
Nothing much more to say here. Cena wins a snoozer.
Winner: John Cena
