WWE SmackDown: 5 Potential Feuds for Chad Gable

2. Mike Kanellis

This seems like an easy transition into a feud for Chad Gable and for Mike Kanellis. This is because of subtle backstage storytelling that would all make sense if WWE believed in continuity.

Mike is currently in a feud with Sami Zayn due to the fact that Sami kept interrupting their “lovey-dovey” moments and would refuse to apologize when Maria commanded him to. Well, the first person Maria went to try and find Sami happened to be Chad Gable.

Chad Gable even illustrated that he was close with Sami by referring to him as the best nickname I have ever heard.

Maria also requested of Gable to send the message along to Sami that Mike and Maria wanted to speak with him. Chad Gable then appeared to blow off that request once she left.

So, the seeds are all there. Chad Gable is friends with the person that Maria and Mike currently hate, and Gable has given them a reason to feud with him due to the fact that he supposedly never delivered Maria’s message.

While it’s not the best beginning of a storyline, it’s enough to pass off as an undercard feud, which is where both performers are at currently. The only problem here is the fact that neither can lose the feud.

Mike Kanellis is still new to WWE and can’t lose a feud so quickly because then he could lose his chance to gain credibility as a heel. Chad Gable is just beginning his singles career and can’t afford a loss if he wants to be taken seriously.

Perhaps shenanigans with Maria involved can help protect Gable’s image, or a loss to Gable will show Maria get upset with Mike or expand upon their relationship in some other way. Either way, it is a plausible feud that could be interesting and could help the victor move up the card.
