2. Rusev

This storyline would have made more sense when Rusev first came back from injury, but at some point, I expect these two to circle back in some kind of a fashion.

In this scenario, although Rusev lost to John Cena at Battleground in the Flag Match, Rusev could seek out Mahal to remind him of who was the leader of their tag team back when they were on RAW together.

However, the WWE likes to stick with the heel and babyface storylines no matter what and doesn’t like to allow their superstars to act how their personality would make them.

Yes, Rusev and Mahal are both heels, but Rusev is coming off of a loss to Cena, was the “leader” of a tag team of him and Mahal and could feel like he’s being pushed to the side.

We used to see heels and babyface’s act “away” from what kind of a character they were meant to be, like, for example, when Stone Cold Steve Austin rescued Stephanie McMahon from the Undertaker trying to force a marriage on her. But again, we’re back to the heel and babyface only mentality, so this match is highly unlikely to happen until after SummerSlam.

So now let’s get to who Mahal will undoubtedly face at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship.
