With Battleground behind them, the men and women of SmackDown Live can shift their gaze towards SummerSlam. Here is everything you should know heading into tonight’s episode:

In his first singles contest since his historic return to SmackDown Live, John Cena defeated Rusev in a Flag Match. Now that he’s conquered the Bulgarian Brute, who will Cena choose to combat next?

Thanks to a timely assist from the Great Khali, Jinder Mahal retained the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Emerging from the wreckage of a hellacious encounter inside of the Punjabi Prison, the Maharajah may have finally ridden himself of the Viper.

By the end of the female fatal-five-way elimination match, Natalya was the one who stood tall above the rest. Due to this victory, she’s slated to face Naomi for the Women’s Championship down the line.

A few weeks ago, AJ Styles shocked the world when he beat Kevin Owens for the United States Championship. The Phenomenal One is easily one of the most popular stars on SmackDown Live, and so a lengthy run with the belt seemed all but certain. Instead, Owens reclaimed the gold and began his third reign as champion. Could this turn of events lead to a more definitive conclusion down the road, or is Styles set to part ways with the midcard belt?

This past Sunday, New Day successfully began their third Tag Team Championship reign when they defeated The Usos. While this marked a great moment for the popular trio, one has to wonder when the Usos will look to cash-in their rematch clause.

At Battleground, Sami Zayn was able to gain a measure of revenge over Mike Kanellis. Tied at one win a piece, it’s only a matter of time before a third and final contest is announced.
