WWE Raw: What’s Next for Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins?

What lies ahead for Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins after this week’s Raw?

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins seemed to be on the same page for a while during the main event match on Monday night. Though a sense of suspicion and tension was all around Ambrose when he was with Rollins, it wouldn’t be too long before the former brothers mend their ways.

However, with a crowded main event scene and Universal title scene, where could these guys head to? Essentially, creative has taken two guys who had very limited things to do under the present state of the main event scene on WWE Raw and suddenly gave them something to do. This may or may not culminate in a fully fledged Shield reunion. However, creative has opened the doors to a number of possibilities here.

Before we move on to anything else, let us address the elephant in the room first. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins really aren’t going to be challenging for the Universal title. At least not for a good while. Brock Lesnar would be in the title hunt until WrestleMania. Throw in a red-hot Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns in the mix. There really isn’t space for anybody else. If Lesnar and the WWE part ways after WrestleMania, then surely, Finn Balor is waiting for his spot. Moreover, he is waiting for a title he had never lost.

Moreover, considering how Reigns is busy chasing after the Universal title, a Shield reunion at this time could be a stretch. However, that does not mean the same could be possible at the time of WrestleMania 34. As it stands, where Ambrose and Rollins go from here is all up in the air. One thing that could be guaranteed is that Monday night would be far from the last time we see these two pair up.

If creative were to give closure to their alliance at this point it would seem like a series that was stopped mid-season. As it stands, Dean Ambrose is yet to trust his former brother. Eventually he might, but until then, Rollins would have to keep trying. This could perhaps result in the duo teaming up more often as Rollins tries to prove he is a changed man. However, it could be assumed that Ambrose’s feud with the Miz could be coming to a close soon. WWE would later announce on Twitter that, next week there would be a special edition of the Miz TV with Jason Jordan.

It could perhaps be a part of Jordan’s push and might lead to an Intercontinental title match somewhere down the line. Else, it could end with the Miztourage trying to beat up on Jordan and Ambrose and Rollins could play the role of saviors once again. Essentially, creative could extend the shelf life of Miz vs Ambrollins a little more. But somewhere down the line, things would have to take a different turn.

More from Raw

As we witnessed Monday night, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins work like a well-oiled machine when they are both on the same page. The serial suicide dive spot has always been a thing of beauty whenever they did it. It gets the fans to reminisce about the good old days of the SHIELD. Perhaps, WWE and creative could milk something more out of the possible SHIELD reunion. They could have Ambrose and Rollins be a tag team for a while before the duo faces an insurmountable threat which would, in turn, require Reigns to join the fray as well.

However, until then, Rollins and Ambrose could tear up the tag division. A run with the tag titles would be simply amazing. Imagine these two colliding with the likes of Cesaro and Sheamus or the Revival for the Raw Tag Team Titles. If creative continues to take the slow burner approach with their alliance, this could come in at a nice pace and can very well drive the fans through the summer and into WrestleMania 34. Seeing as neither of them has anything else of noteworthy importance to do at the moment, a run as the tag champions might not be bad at all.
