Hideo Itami vs. Kassius Ohno

Result: DQ Finish

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

I know that I’m in the small minority here, but Ohno doesn’t do anything for me. I know he is super athletic, and I can appreciate that, however he doesn’t excite me in the ring. That being said, this matchup was intriguing. The build up between these two has taken months. Going all the way back to Takeover: Chicago where Itami lost to Bobby Roode. After the match, Itami got physical with Ohno. The two attempted to reconcile their differences, but Itami’s growing frustration continued to be a point of contention.

Last week Ohno arranged the match between the two. It was a good physical affair with both competitors landing their offense. At the match’s climax, Ohno was able to slip away from Itami as he attempted to set up the GTS. Landing a big boot, Ohno was lining up for the Knockout Blow. But Itami went for a knockout blow of his own…to the nether region.

Itami then continued his beatdown on his now former friend with 2 consecutive GTS’s followed by a fireman’s carry drop on the stairs as NXT went off the air.
