WWE SmackDown Live Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for July 25
By Rob Furness
WWE: Zayn and Dillinger
Tye Dillinger and Sami Zayn vs. Aiden English and Mike Kanellis w/ Maria Kanellis
Result: Zayn and Dillinger def. Kanellis and English via Helluva Kick
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
I want to dislike this match for everything it stands for: nonsensical tag matches, but I can’t because all four superstars are awesome at what they do.
At Battleground, Sami Zayn scored a victory of Kanellis, while Tye lost for the first time to English. I am not exactly sure what another loss for Kanellis does for him, but hopefully, we can see both superstars move on to bigger things.
An exciting and fun match overall. Nothing else really there to talk about.I do sort of question Mike Kanellis’s place on the roster. There are at least a handful of guys on the roster that could job out week after week; Dolph Ziggler and SIn Cara come to mind.
Kevin Owens Tries to Talk Shane Out of Triple Threat Match
Backstage, Kevin Owens enters in Shane McMahon’s office and says that he knows Shane doesn’t like him and that’s the only reason why he scheduled this match. Shane corrects him and says that the only reason he scheduled the match was because the fans of SmackDown Live deserve a great match. He then adds that KO is right though, Shane does not like him.
The New Day Celebrate
At Battleground, the New Day defeated The Usos to become the first tag team to hold both the Raw and SmackDown tag team championships, the victory was especially memorable for Xavier Woods who scored his first pinfall win for the gold. However, their celebration was cut short when The Usos attacked The New Day on their way to the ring.
