WWE Rumors: Raw Tag Team Title Match Discussed for SummerSlam

The Raw Tag Team Championship match for WWE SummerSlam looks to be penciled in.

Unfortunately, for the Monday night brand, the tag team division is quite skeletal. For the past few months, the Hardy Boyz have feuded with current champions, Sheamus & Cesaro. After a steel cage and Ironman match, Matt and Jeff Hardy were not able to regain their titles won at WWE WrestleMania 33.

Other teams on the Raw roster include Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows and The Revival as solid tag teams, as well as the occasional pairing of Apollo Crews and Akira Tozawa. The Miztourage stablemates, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, have also been teaming more as of late.

As one can see, the division overall on Raw lacks depth. However, the division may be experiencing a slight change heading to SummerSlam.

According to a report from WrestleZone (h/t Sportskeeda), WWE is now discussing a Raw Tag Team Championship match to occur between champions Sheamus & Cesaro against Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose.

Recently, Rollins has shifted his concentration from Bray Wyatt over to assisting his former Shield partner Ambrose from the onslaught of The Miz and his Miztourage. While Ambrose has been feuding with Miz for a number of months, Rollins made the save for Ambrose after he was attacked by the trio. Ambrose would then return the favor later on the episode of Raw, after Rollins fell victim to the same fate.

On the latest episode of Raw, Rollins and Ambrose were able to defeat Miz, Dallas, and Axel in a handicap match to further gain momentum as a team.

Interestingly, Rollins has attempted over the past few Raw episodes to reform two-thirds of the Shield. Not only did Rollins apologize for what he did three years ago after hitting Ambrose with a chair and joining The Authority, but he extended his first for the patented Shield pose. However, while Ambrose hugged Rollins after their victory, he still was not comfortable enough to solidify the reunion.

Seemingly, this angle will play out over the next few weeks, and we may have new tag team champions come the conclusion of SummerSlam.
