3. First World Championship Win in Over a Year

June 19, 2016.

The last time Roman Reigns held one of WWE’s top Championships was Money in the Bank last year. When he dropped the WWE Championship to Seth Rollins, who was then cashed in on by Dean Ambrose.

In that time many other people have gotten an opportunity to show whether or not they were worthy of holding a major championship in WWE.

Guys like Finn Balor and Kevin Owens both got to prove their worth when they got to hold the Universal Championship. Even if Finn only got to hold the belt for less than 24 hours. He still proved that he was deserving of the opportunity WWE was ready to give him. He can’t help that he got injured in the match.

Owens also proved he was worthy of more championship runs. And hopefully, he’ll be in the main event scene on Smackdown soon.

Still, though, Reigns hasn’t held a main event title in a long time. He had a 107 day United States Championship run in the median.

While it’s been nice seeing new wrestlers get opportunities, Reigns is deserving of another world title run. He’s been at the top of the card, and there’s no one more qualified in this match to walk out as champion than Reigns.
