WWE Rumors: Baron Corbin Has Backstage Heat

Former Mr. Money in the Bank, Baron Corbin, reportedly has backstage heat in WWE, which may explain why he failed his cash-in this past Tuesday night.

This past Tuesday night, on WWE SmackDown Live, Baron Corbin was unsuccessful in cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

This has led many to speculate about how Corbin’s being perceived backstage, moreover, his position in the company going forward. Some believe that the WWE just wanted to shock the fans, having a surprise failed cash-in. While others believe the reasoning behind it is much more political.

As first reported by the Wrestling Observer (on Wrestling Observer Live), the latter seems more accurate. Bryan Alverez revealed that Corbin allegedly has some backstage heat. Furthermore, the heat is for his recent Twitter antics.

Recently, ‘The Lone Wolf’ has gone after Dave Metzler.

"“What matches and promos has Dave meltzer done. Ohh none! He is a old man who could never do what anyone on the roster can or could.”"

Corbin and Metlzer then had a brief dialog over several tweet, including Baron saying:

"“You where blocked while I was in NXT. Now you’re free to say what ever to me.”"

To Meltzer’s credit, he didn’t really rise to the bait. However, he did respond the a fan asking why and if there was heat between the two:

Then, following a few more stupid tweets from Corbin, Meltzer seemed to be on the upper hand of this ‘Twitter beef’:

However, this wasn’t the end of the now former Mr. Money In Bank’s Twitter hiccup. Before getting into the exchange with Dave, he also had a short back and forth with Mike Gilbert – a wrestling fan and podcaster who served in the military.

Twitter is great tool for WWE Superstars. It can help promote matches, feuds, and even helps in selling merch. Moreover, it’s also a great way to develop your character. A great example of a heel, doing it right, is Kevin Owens. The hilarious insults, that are usually directed at fans making fun of Owens, are always in good fun. However, looking over Corbin’s tweets, they just cross line a little too much. I’m not against Superstars being controversial, far from it, but at least be smart with insults – instead of trying to bury a wrestling expert that’s been around twice, even three times, as long as you.

And this, according to Alverez, was the exact same thinking WWE had. Currently, is unclear whether the comments directed at Dave, or the podcaster who served in the military, is to blame for his backstage heat. Equally, it could be both exchanges.

There have also been reports of ‘The Lone Wolf’ blocking people within WWE. Which obviously isn’t the smartest move.

Going forward, Baron Corbin should take a break from Twitter. Clearly, he can’t take criticism or advice well – and Twitter is the holy grail for negative comments. Therefore, it makes sense to stay as far away from it as possible, or any other form of social media, otherwise he may be in even more serious trouble.
