WWE: Daniel Bryan Will Wrestle Again, According to Brie Bella
It’s been nearly two years since we’ve seen Daniel Bryan wrestle in a WWE ring. But Brie Bella has breathed hope in a potential return to the ring for one of the best to ever wrestle.
In an interview on Barstool Sports’ From The Top Rope podcast (h/t Pro Wrestling Sheet), former WWE star Brie Bella said that her husband, Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan, would find a way back into a wrestling ring:
"“And I told Bryan, ‘You do have a daughter, so always remember that. But if the doctors finally give you the green light,’ I go, ‘Go! This is your dream and passion. You have one life to live and I will never hold you back.’ … Because I love to wrestle, and I would hate if someone told me you can’t do it. And if WWE doesn’t allow it, then I said, ‘Go somewhere else. It’s all on you.’ Obviously he would love to be able to get back in that WWE ring, but I know for a fact my husband is going to find his way back to the ring. He honestly is.”"
Bryan officially retired from in ring work after WWE’s doctors wouldn’t clear him to wrestle, even though various other medical professionals had cleared him to return to the ring. Bryan still had a few years left on his contract though, so WWE had to find something else for him to do. So, they made him the GM of Smackdown after the brand split.
And Bryan has been spectacular in the role. Just as everyone expected him to be, he has always been the best at anything he has tried to do. Which is why many welcome a return to the ring for Bryan.
But as Brie said Daniel does have a family now, and even though he loves being in the ring, taking care of them has to be the top priority. His injuries are severe, with multiple concussions documented, and many others undocumented as Bryan said in an interview with ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman.
Daniel Bryan getting back in a WWE ring would be very welcome. But is also very doubtful, they wouldn’t clear him medically before, so I doubt they would now. Brain damage is permanent, and serious. It’s not something that heals overtime. It’s not like a torn muscle, or ligament, that you can have repaired through surgery.
The only reason WWE would ever consider clearing him would be if they wanted to keep him from going to another promotion. However, the risk of him getting seriously injured in their ring, would keep them from doing that.

Bryan should just stay where he is. He’s healthy, and can function without problem. As much as he wants to return to the ring, and as much as I would love to see that. Staying healthy, and being able to raise his daughter and enjoy life at a high quality should be more important to Bryan at this point in time.
