What went down in the main event of the 2017 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view?

As the 2017 rendition of SummerSlam comes to a close, many fans will have to exhale.  The night ended with what was arguably the best match of the evening.  It was a pure hoss fight between the heaviest hitters on the RAW brand.  Brock Lesnar defended his Universal Championship in a Fatal 4-Way against Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns.

The match was a highlight reel from opening bell to closing moments.  Each man had his chance to shine and come within a second of becoming champion.  But when the smoke cleared it was Brock Lesnar walking out of the Barclay’s Center still champion.  It wasn’t an easy night at the office for Lesnar though as tonight was the toughest test in his recent stint with WWE.  At one point while Joe had Lesnar in the Cochina Clutch, Roman speared Lesnar through the barricade.  Then came the destruction of the tables. That is all due to the powerhouse that his Braun Strowman.

Strowman wasted no time at all muscling his way around the match.  Throughout the main event, Braun seemed to have an influence.  He would deliver TWO running powerslams to Lesnar through announce tables.  When the Monster Among Men wasn’t pleased, he took the final table and tossed it onto Lesnar’s prone body.  At one moment even, as Roman and Joe battled a chair came flying through the air.  Also, thanks to Strowman.

Tonight wasn’t just about Braun and Brock though.  Joe and Roman would both have their chances and what felt like their grasps on the title, only to have them dashed.  On several occasions Joe had the Cochina Clutch locked in but to his dismay, none of the attempts would seal the deal.  Towards the conclusion of the match, Roman found a second win and began railing off Superman Punches and Spears like nothing.  That would lead to his downfall though.  As he went for a final blow, Lesnar found the strength to hit a final F-5.  At 20:53, the 1-2-3 was counted and the Beast Incarnate would walk out of Brooklyn still champion.
