SummerSlam Main Event Star
Strowman’s popularity reached a fever pitch in the SummerSlam main event, a match that truly displayed his star potential. In a group that included Reigns, Lesnar and a next-in-line-for-a-top-spot Samoa Joe, Strowman was the standout:
Even though he didn’t walk away with the Universal title, he has been the focal point of discussion since then. We now know that Strowman will face Lesnar for the championship later this month at No Mercy. Much like the Strowman-Reigns combination, his pairing with Lesnar is endlessly fascinating.
Many parallels can be drawn between the two, including their relative inexperience at the time of their debuts, their meteoric rises to the top and their believability inside the ring.
When Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar squared off with one another during the SummerSlam fatal 4-way, scattered cheers coupled with a “here we go again” vibe filled the arena. When Lesnar and Strowman went face-to-face, it was no surprise that the crowd erupted.
The “competition” Braun had been asking for since last year was finally here.
