The former NXT Champion, Samoa Joe, has been sidelined with a knee injury for the past week, giving fans no update on his current situation. However, according to a new report, the Samoan Superstar is expected back relatively soon.
During a live Raw event in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Saturday, August 26, Samoa Joe is said to have suffered a knee injury. He was facing John Cena, and from all accounts, the match ended to according to plan; Cena hit an Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall victory.
However, the next day, Joe was missing from the Sunday live event in Tupelo, Mississippi. Furthermore, he then missed Raw. Joe, as a popular and prominent figure on the show, being missing from Raw raised questions. During this time, neither Joe nor the WWE acknowledged the injury. However, he was expected to miss about a month of action.
And now, we’ve got another update regarding the Samoan Submission Machine, per, Mike Johnson of PWInsider. According to the report, Samoa Joe was in Birmingham, Alabama earlier this week to have his knee injury diagnosed and fixed. Moreover, he’s expected to be out between 4-6 weeks (earliest: September 29th, latest: October13th).
This means that Joe will miss the No Mercy pay-per-view, however, following the event, his return should be imminent.

The injury, albeit minor, couldn’t have come at worse time. His recent performances on the flagship show, and against Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire, have proven why Samoa Joe is the future of the WWE. Following a great showing at SummerSlam, Joe was really starting to become a fan favourite, and he received praise from Paul Heyman backstage for his performances. Hopefully, he can carry on his destruction upon his return.
