Highlights of the division

Sasha Banks defeated Emma in the only match for the Women’s Division on Raw. This match was clearly nothing to write home about because it was overshadowed by the commentary of Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss. It seems like at this point in time, both Sasha Banks and Emma won’t be favoured at No Mercy.

It would make sense on Emma’s part since she has a long way to go before she can be considered a top contender in the division. As for Sasha Banks, it doesn’t seem like she’ll be in the long-term plans to capture the Raw Women’s Championship for a fifth time.

As for next week, Nia Jax will be squaring off against Alexa Bliss, which was a match that should have happened a while ago. Last time they faced each other, Dana Brooke and Mickie James ran interference and costed Nia the chance to be the Women’s Champion. This match however will be a non-title bout. There isn’t any scenario where Alexa Bliss will beat Nia Jax, but the WWE creative team will find a way to protect both stars.

Asuka will be arriving to Raw in the next few weeks, once she recovers from the injury she sustained last month at NXT Takeover Brooklyn. The Empress of Tomorrow is a game changer for Monday Night Raw. She’s a main event talent that this division has desperately needed for a long time.

Having her join the red brand will force the WWE to give more air time to this division. The drawback of having Asuka joining the division is that competitors like Alicia Fox, Mickie James and Dana Brooke will be completely forgotten by the fans and by the WWE.
