The RAW Tag Team Division

Highlights of the division

The tag team division was showcased in the main event of Raw to close out the show. In the end, the Raw Tag Team Champions scored another victory in their march towards No Mercy. Their rivalry with Cesaro and Sheamus is losing a bit of steam the past few weeks.

It seems like the opposite of what transpired during the buildup towards Summerslam last month, where the story had a ton of excitement revolving around the potential team-up of Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. There hasn’t been any friction between the tag champs or their opponents, other than the usual brawls that have been happening for weeks. This feud will need to hit another gear or else the division will suffer for the long haul.

Based on the video he posted on Twitter last week, it looks like Matt Hardy might be revamping his character. The Hardy Boyz got a win with the Raw Tag Champs in their 8-man tag match but there haven’t been much progress with Team Extreme. Jeff Hardy lost his chance to be the Intercontinental Champion but there is a perfect opportunity to transform Team Extreme into an entertaining duo.

It doesn’t seem like the “Broken” characters will be coming to Raw but both Matt and Jeff can recreate something new and fresh instead. The new “Woke” persona definitely has some creative legs and that’s something that could be put to great use on Raw.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the division…

Gallows and Anderson have been on a losing streak as of yet and haven’t won a match since the beginning of July. So two months have passed with no progress, both in their in-ring performance and creatively as well. The question the WWE needs to ask is if they know to book their talent correctly, especially ones that aren’t in the main event. It’s honestly not hard to book the former Raw Tag Team Champions or anybody else for that matter, play to their strengths. They are a funny duo that could also play the perfect villain role in the tag team division. It’s up to creative if they plan to do that starting next week.

These are the rankings for the division this week.
