IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: Funky Future (Champions) vs Taichi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru

Fans will be sick to death of Suzuki-gun’s nonsense by the time this tour is over.

Bullet Club and LIJ are no strangers to back-hand shenanigans, but SG’s cheat-to-win mentality has really irked a lot of fans. You could say they are succeeding as legitimate heels, but aside from helping Minoru Suzuki maintain his position, cheating rarely works out for them.

As heels, however, Taichi and Kanemaru are competent enough to work a good match with the likes of Taguchi and Ricochet. They can use foreign objects for heat, but there is no sense in relying on them. The pair involved a gavel, a cane and a bottle of whiskey on numerous occasions, none of which really helped them in any meaningful fashion.

The problem is highlighted when they are in there with one of the world’s most gifted wrestlers. Funky Future has allowed Ricochet to get some piping-hot tags, flying into the ring and tearing through his opponents. The high-flyer cleared out Taichi with two dives, one of which was like a lawn dart, as Taguchi tapped out Kanemaru.

Post-match, Rocky Romero let the champions know that he’s putting together a new tag team. Could it involve CHAOS teammate Will Ospreay? Will Rocky have done some recruiting in the US? Or is he going to take a young lion under his wing? The Jr. Tag Division seems to have plenty more going for it than their Heavyweight counterparts.
