A Dose of Reality

Alexa Bliss is a true NXT-to-WWE success story. Having never come within touching distance of the NXT Women’s Championship, she’s now a four-time Champion on the main roster. Nia Jax is also a rarity, not just because of her look. She consistently loses title matches, and yet she remains a major threat any time she is involved.

Impressive as that is, it should be no surprise that WWE would craft a title feud between these two. However, there’s an added element to this affair.

Alexa and Nia have been confirmed for the new series of Total Divas.

Again, here comes that cynical side. WWE have not shied away from excessive promotional tactics in the past, and each time Total Divas returns, WWE alter their plans for the Women’s division. Could that maybe involve having the two series newcomers take centre stage in the coming months? Don’t be surprised.

Whatever you think of Nia or Alexa, Total Divas shouldn’t factor so heavily into WWE’s decision-making. Emma, having only ever made guest appearances, is one of many who suffer because of it.

As if Emma didn’t have it hard enough going into No Mercy, she’s entering a time of year where WWE’s Women’s division drops the ‘sports’ and goes full ‘entertainment.’ As a non-reality star, Emma faces an even steeper uphill battle.
