3. Shane McMahon Returns

When Shane McMahon’s music hit last week, I legitimately thought that the SmackDown Live commissioner had returned, eschewing the indefinite suspension handed down to him by his father. Instead, it was just “old Dolph Ziggler” again, having some fun with his outrageous, dead-end gimmick of mimicking entrances. Ziggler’s impression of Shane O’Mac was spot-on and entertaining, as was the back-and-forth between Kevin Owens and Shane.

But the back-and-forth between Owens and Shane tonight will be even better, because I am willing to bet that Shane will make a return to defend his family. Owens put his hands on Vince last week, head-butting him, super-kicking him, and nailing him with a devastating frog splash. Vince bled out, and the incident caused Stephanie McMahon to briefly return from her long hiatus to check on her father.

Shane has to have the support of his father now, and there’s no way he takes this quietly after what happened last week. His character is one built around toughness and honor, and he’ll take the fight to Owens this week. Who wins this round between Shane and KO remains to be seen, but the physicality won’t end before Hell in a Cell.

The drama between these two has just begun, and I expect them to do everything possible to top their performances each week.
