In a recent interview, Ric Flair opened up about the servility of alcohol addiction.
About a month ago, the wrestling world was in shock. Ric Flair was hospitalized, with ‘tough medical issues’, and fans around the world were getting seriously worried.
Thankfully, Flair would kick out just at the last moment – avoiding the three count – and it was being reported that he was out of surgery, and resting with his family. (Per, TMZ)
"Flair is out of surgery and resting, a rep for WWE tells TMZ Sports. Unclear how the surgery went but we’re told Ric’s family is by his side and they’re waiting to meet with doctors."
Now, following his death scare, it seems as if The Nature Boy has been opening up about his demons; most notably, his alcohol addiction.
During a recent interview, on ESPN’s ‘The Dan Le Batard Show’, Flair made some surprising comments on his battle against the bottle.
"“I just drank too much,” Flair said. “Between 3,700 and 4,000 calories worth of booze … in my body every day. Like 20 drinks a day.”"
Ric Flair’s alcohol abuse quickly caught up on him. He later mentions that he was on life support for ten days, following the carnage of his liver. At the time, the doctors were unsure if he’d make it.
However, because of these awful experiences, Ric Flair is now cleaning up his act. Naitch says he completely done with drinking, moreover, he wants to start living a long, healthy lifestyle.

Which obviously is absolutely fantastic. Flair was near to death, and if there’s any chance of him making it another five, ten years it kicking the ‘booze.
In conjunction with the interview, ESPN are releasing a 30-for-30 documentary, which will air November 7th. This special will also include Flair’s addiction to both alcohol, and on a lighter note, wrestling.
