The Smackdown Live Mid Card Division

Highlights of the division

Kevin Owens might be groomed to be the next Stone Cold of this generation, based on his actions last week and reaction this week. It’s still shocking that Kevin Owens has been elevated in his feud with the McMahons after losing the United States Championship at SummerSlam. Well, Kevin Owens must win in the Hell in a Cell match against Shane McMahon to be considered a main event contender once again. The WWE dropped the ball on Owens after he lost the Universal Championship to Goldberg at Fastlane. He never had the opportunity to get his title rematch. But if he beats Shane McMahon, there is nobody left on SmackDown that shouldn’t get the opportunity to challenge for the WWE Championship, other than Kevin Owens.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the division.

AJ Styles and Baron Corbin never had the opportunity to have their title match because of the interference of Tye Dillinger. It’s fascinating that the WWE couldn’t book Tye Dillinger as a contender but yet he’s still involved in the title picture. If the WWE wants to tease a triple threat scenario with all three men involved, they need to establish the Perfect 10 as a championship contender. He must beat any other contender ranked above him to gain any legitimacy in the mid card division.

Still strange to see Dolph Ziggler still continuing his mockery of entrances, but their must be an end goal to all of this. He still needs a specific target on the SmackDown roster to make an example of for his entertaining diatribes. Booby Roode does fit the bill and if that’s the direction the WWE will take, than make it happen. If Ziggler does this for the next few weeks with no target in sight, nobody will care about his segments at all.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
