WWE No Mercy 2017: RAW Women’s Championship Recap and Highlights
The RAW Women’s Championship gets defended in a wild Fatal 5-Way
Alexa Bliss walked out of the Staples Center the same way she walked in, the RAW Women’s Champion. In what was a fast-paced and chaotic match, the women delivered big. From the opening bell, Nia was made to be the monster that everyone would need to band together to defeat. On multiple occasions throughout the match, the other four women would have to team up in order to get an upper hand.
After a quick removal of Nia by all the women and a whirlwind back and forth the ring was empty except for two women, Bayley and Sasha. The two best friends soaked up the moment quickly before locking up and going to battle. That moment would be short lived as Nia would soon return and begin ragdolling anyone that got near her. Nia would continue to dominate in every way possible until a brief reprieve where she would clash with her former best friend. Nia and Alexa would have a staredown and the size difference was impressive.
The two began going back and forth with Nia stopping Alexa at every turn. The crowd in Los Angeles is heavily behind Nia. Once again the women would team together to momentarily eliminate Nia from the equation. At one moment, Bayley and Emma would position themselves for a double powerbomb on Nia. After a few failed attempts, Sasha and Alexa would aid in the effort and kick Nia, once again taking her out of the match.
The Queen of Mean reigns supreme
Emma, the dark horse of the match begins to build steam. She hits multiple moves stacking Bayley and Alexa into the corner and finishing her run with an Emmamite Sandwich. Banks would follow with a Bank Statement on Alexa and that’s where things began to close. A quick Nia blast then a run into the corner would eliminate her. Bayley and Alexa would start to go back and forth at a furious pace. The match would end at the 10-minute mark, with the resident Queen of Mean getting her hand raised.
Next: WWE No Mercy 2017 Review
As I previously wrote in the lead-up to No Mercy, Alexa winning is the best option. After this match, her existing feuds are now ramped to a completely new level. Little Miss Bliss now has a list of credible contenders. The biggest benefit of these multi-person matches is they allow for multiple new stories to be written. I see Nia as the next contender as she had the best showing in a loss tonight. Bayley and Sasha may eventually spinoff into a rebirth of their NXT feud, especially with WrestleMania around the corner. Unfortunately, Emma might be the odd woman out in the equation. The RAW women’s division looks strong and with Alexa Bliss on the throne, the kingdom looks secure.
