WWE Rumors: The Shield Reuniting for TLC?

Could the dominant faction be reuniting in the near future?

With No Mercy behind us now, it’s time to take a look at a big rumor surrounding WWE. This rumor is so hot, it even got some play on the No Mercy broadcast. What rumor are we talking about? The Shield possibly reuniting.

Per James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the scuttlebutt backstage is that the beloved trio will be reuniting. And not for a big match at WrestleMania or the like – this reunion will be in time for the next Raw-exclusive pay per view, TLC.

As mentioned in the above tweets from McKenna, The Shield had their first match as a team at the TLC pay per view in 2012. (Yes, it’s been five years since Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose debuted on the main roster.) If you recall, that TLC match against Ryback and Team Hell No was really really really good.

Fans have been clamoring for a true Shield reunion since the trio first broke up in 2014. But with all three members going their separate ways for the most part, it’s never really been an option. We’ve had random pairings of two of the three members, and occasionally the trio would walk around backstage and allude to a reunion, but nothing ever came of it.

Now, the pieces are in place to make a true reunion out of it. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are in the midst of a Raw Tag Team Championship reign. They seem to have patched up their relationship in recent weeks. By defeating Cesaro and Sheamus at No Mercy, they are currently withour a feud – most likely.

What about the Big Dog? Roman Reigns also scored a victory at No Mercy, defeating John Cena. With Cena looking as if he’s leaving WWE for a bit, Reigns is also without a real rivalry at the moment.

And, The Miz addressed rumors surrounding Roman Reigns during the No Mercy telecast. He asked Kurt Angle for a special edition of Miz TV to interview Reigns about said rumors. Could it be that WWE is getting out in front of the situation McKenna may have broken?

Regardless of why WWE may be finally pulling the trigger here, a Shield reunion would be a welcome addition to Raw on Mondays. It may be just what Reigns needs to get the fans back on his side heading into his inevitable WrestleMania victory over Brock Lesnar. Plus, The Shield was great, and more of that trio would be amazing.
