5. The WWE Ignores Its Racism

Last week, Shinsuke Nakamura should have come out and destroyed Jinder Mahal for the racist promo he cut a couple of weeks ago, in which he told a bunch of unfunny constipation jokes and watched as the Singh Brothers rolled with laughter. I understand the WWE wants to make Mahal a heat magnet, but at this point, the heat he carries is merely a vehicle transporting the heat attached to an embarrassingly incompetent writing staff.

Instead, the WWE doubled-down on its racism, somehow making things even worse. Instead of addressing the issue properly, the WWE released a statement that isn’t even worth using as toilet paper, and they decided not to upload the segment to YouTube. You know, so people won’t know that it ever happened!

I expect the WWE to completely ignore these promos after the Washington Post covered the fiasco, and I’m not holding out hope for them using their mistake as a teachable moment or anything like that. They’ll move forward with this lackluster feud like it is business as usual, and as time passes, I’m beginning to worry that Mahal will remain the champion indefinitely. And the longer he holds the championship, the worse his reign looks, and it’s because of these head-scratching decisions from the booking team. Mahal himself has been fine, but the writing given to him has been abhorrent and devoid of nuance.
