4. Baron Corbin Faces Tye Dillinger

Baron Corbin is expected to be the next United States Champion – a title currently held by AJ Styles. On last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Corbin received an opportunity at Styles’s title, but after stomping on Styles in the corner, he was the victim of interference from Tye Dillinger.

It was a bit surreal watching a babyface interfere on a heel, but I guess the story the WWE is trying to tell here is that Corbin is a cheapshot artist who needs to be kept in check by babyfaces. Or something like that.

Either way, the match ended in a disqualification, meaning that Corbin technically won the match. That said, the last visual we got was Corbin getting it handed to him, as we saw Styles force Corbin to tap out to the “Calf Crusher”, which seems to be getting quite the rub after Styles defeated Dillinger with the submission maneuver.

I believe Corbin and Dillinger will get a second match to settle their differences, and although their first encounter was competitive, I could see Corbin ruthlessly demolishing Dillinger in order to conclusively move on to a feud with Styles that won’t include interference from The Perfect 10.

It is also possible for Corbin to just beat Dillinger up backstage, but with the way the WWE books Mahal to never have any legitimate matches on television (this is fine, we don’t need to over-expose the ol’ “Singh Brothers cheat” finish), they might want to throw in a quality match.
