The Raw Mid Card Division

Highlights of the division

The Miz retained his Intercontinental Championship against Jason Jordan at No Mercy but then lost to Roman Reigns on Raw. This type of booking is what gets fans frustrated at the product all the time – not protecting their champions. There was no need to give away a big match like that in a non-title situation and the Miz suffered because of that. The beat down he delivered to Reigns after the match with the Miztourage was mute because the damage was already done.

The Miztourage have been booked to look like jobbers since the summer and have no shot of looking like legitimate threats anytime soon. If they are groomed to face the Shield at a later date, it’ll be more of an execution than a competitive match. It wouldn’t be surprising to see if Reigns does beat the Miz for the Intercontinental Championship next week on Raw, because we already saw the match on Monday night.

Elias scored two big wins over Apollo Crew on both No Mercy and Raw. It seems like a feud has ignited between Elias and Titus O’Neil, which was a direction nobody foresaw. Titus hasn’t competed on Raw since June, and he gave the impression that he would be managing both Apollo Crews and Akira Tozawa for the long run. If he is planning to face Elias in the near future, he shouldn’t be booked to beat the Drifter. There is a reason why Titus O’Neil is a pretender in the mid card division, he’s a tag team specialist that can’t cut it as a singles competitor. Both O’Neil and Crews should be booked as a tag team and go after the tag titles after their program with Elias wraps up.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the division.

Somewhat confusing to see how the WWE has booked Goldust the past few months. First he’s a babyface that breaks up with his tag partner R-Truth and eventually becomes a heel. Then he’s lost in the shuffle for weeks until one week before Summerslam he tells the world that he’ll debut an apprentice at the pay per view. But nothing happens and it’s never mentioned. Weeks later, he’s booked in a random match against Bray Wyatt and loses, but a week later wants revenge against Wyatt as Dustin Rhodes? Just this week, he attacks Finn Balor for standing up to Wyatt after he attacked him and eventually loses to Balor in their match up. Honestly the only thing the WWE needs to do is be consistent on how the book these character progressions. It’s really not that hard.
