WWE Hell In A Cell 2017: 3 Reasons The New Day Should Win
3. It’s Time To End The Feud
The New Day and The Usos have been bitter rivals for months, and it’s led to incredibly entertaining television. Save for maybe the long-term planning between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon, which didn’t truly kick that next gear until Vince McMahon got involved, there hasn’t been a better storyline or feud in the WWE than this one. It’s rare in this day and age for two tag teams to do this, but that just speaks to the talent that The New Day and The Usos have. The New Day are arguably the greatest tag team in WWE history and can make anything work, while The Usos are the best current act due to their in-ring work and intensity in promos.
These two tag teams have matched each other perfectly both inside the ring and outside of it. They’ve made Street Fights, rap battles, and everything else in between work. The Usos can do a perfect impersonation of Big E, and The New Day can match all of The Usos’ brutal hits in betwen the ropes.
However, it’s time for this rivalry to come to its natural conclusion. There’s no better way to end a feud than to have it in a Hell in a Cell match, and SmackDown Live can use this opportunity to get other tag teams involved. Any tag team can benefit greatly from working with either opponent, and I wouldn’t be upset if The New Day had a little back-and-forth with a focused, heel Hype Bros.
Meanwhile, The Usos could form a rivalry with Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, which is essentially an upgraded version of the feud they had with Jason Jordan and Gable. Benjamin is a superior character, so the luster that The Usos’ feud with American Alpha could be replaced by a feud with Gable and Benjamin.
As much as I would love to see these two teams fighting forever, it’s better to end a program when it’s at its peak. That way, the fans don’t get tired of it, have fond memories of the rivalry, and might even want it to be restarted at a future date if the company feels they are out of other ideas.
