1. Tye Dillinger Gets Another Shot

Sunday’s Hell in a Cell match for the United States Championship is being billed as a singles match between current champion AJ Styles and Baron Corbin, who is widely projected as the next man to capture the title. Corbin has been groomed for a title run, but he had the rug pulled out from under him when he lost his Money in the Bank briefcase in August after an unsuccessful cash in on current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.

However, I have a feeling SmackDown Live will take a page out of Raw‘s book by making Tye Dillinger a last-second insertion into the match to make this a triple threat. If you recall, the Raw Women’s Championship match for No Mercy was originally scheduled to be a singles match between Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks, but then they threw in Nia Jax and Emma. That wasn’t all, though, because they suddenly added a returning Bayley to the mix on the week before.

Dillinger’s insertion into the match, though, wouldn’t be sudden. He’s been in the storyline for weeks now, and he’s been given a couple of chances at Styles’s United States Championship. He’s failed each time, but the matches have been interesting. He’s also stood toe-to-toe with Corbin and hung in there with him, and he could get a chance in a triple threat match.

Cynically, perhaps, inserting Dillinger would also allow Corbin to pin “The Perfect 10” instead of Styles, allowing Styles to remain as strong as possible. Styles can certainly afford to take random pinfalls, such as his out-of-nowhere loss to Dolph Ziggler in Atlanta in the build-up to Money in the Bank, but it’s best for him to be on another level. Because if he loses the United States Champion, there’s no doubt that he’ll be right back in the WWE Championship conversation.
