WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 is approaching quickly and the marquee match will be Shane McMahon vs Kevin Owens inside the cell.  Owens is unhinged and dangerous, while McMahon has his family legacy on the line.  The two will forever be changed after their battle.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 is upon us and it may be witness to one of the most violent matches the WWE has seen in years.  The rivalry between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens has reached a fever pitch.  The issues began last summer when Smackdown Live passed on drafting Owens.  He never let them forget it.

During the Superstar Shakeup, Owens would be brought to Smackdown Live and he brought a major league grudge with him.  Whether it was during the weekly program or during the recap show Talking Smack, KO would vent his frustrations with the McMahon led brand.  This would only be the first chapter in what’s become a blood feud.

Fast forward to the Summer of 2017, Owens is embroiled in a rivalry with AJ Styles for the coveted United States Championship.  The two would trade the title back and forth to the point where they would need a special guest referee.  Enter, Shane McMahon.

At SummerSlam, McMahon would call the match down the middle, rebuffing physicality from both Styles and Owens equally.  As, KO thought he had the match won, Shane would fairly call off a 3-count as he noticed Styles had gotten his foot on the ropes to break the count.

In the following weeks, Owens would continue to blame Shane for his shortcomings.  After losing his final chance at the US Championship, Owens would ramp up his verbal assaults on McMahon, stooping to the point of insulting his children.  This would prove to be the spark that lit the powder keg as Shane would see red and physically assault Owens.

Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan, per the orders of Vince McMahon, suspended Shane indefinitely.  Vince would make his first appearance on Smackdown Live in order to have a face to face with KO to explain his actions.  Vince made the Shane vs. KO match official, placing it inside the Hell in a Cell.

During the confrontation, Owens made a deal with the Chairman of the Board but worded it in a way McMahon didn’t pick up on.  “Give me your word. if provoked, I can beat a McMahon senseless,” Owens demanded.  Moments later he would begin a violent beatdown of Mr. McMahon like we haven’t seen in ages.

That’s where the change in demeanor fully took over.  The fans were no longer looking at Kevin Owens, but Kevin Steen.  The man beat his best friend Sami Zayn (El Generico), bloody all over the world.  The man who has had some of the most violent and bloody matches in the history of the independents.

Zayn gives a glimpse into the mind of Kevin Owens

This past week on Smackdown Live Zayn would try and warn Shane that it wasn’t Owens facing him at Hell in a Cell, but someone far more dangerous.  Zayn would know better than anyone what Owens is capable of when he goes into that other gear.  During their time in Ring of Honor, Owens would turn on Zayn and after losing to the Young Bucks.  Over the course of the next year, Owens and Zayn would go to war.  The two would part after the final bell rang but the wounds were still there.

On the evening of his NXT debut, Owens would gain his first win under the WWE banner.  Later in the evening Zayn finally reached the mountaintop and won the NXT Championship.  As the locker room emptied to celebrate with Zayn, there was his best friend.  Owens and Zayn were visibly very emotional.  Just as the moment felt too good to be true, it was.  Owens would hoist Zayn into the air and powerbomb him onto the ring apron.  Time had passed, but the emotion was still there.

Shane McMahon would be doing himself a favor to listen to Sami Zayn’s words.  His warning comes with more weight than anyone else could provide.  In a match that is already so violent and devastating, releasing an unhinged Owens into the Devil’s Playground could be life-altering.  Shane is no rookie when it comes to street fights and rules with no matches, also having been in several HIAC matches.  Sunday will be different though, Sunday he doesn’t step in the cell with another wrestler.  Sunday he will be standing in front of a runaway train with nothing to lose, no restrictions, and no conscience.
