2. Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon

This really was a difficult choice. When Hell In A Cell first ended Sunday night, this match seemed like the best one of the card. However, after some serious thinking and analyzing, the Owens/McMahon HIAC falls to second place, however, it’s ever so slightly. Main eventing the show is never an easy task, especially if you’re Owens and you’re taking on a non-wrestler in it. But it’s a testament to just how good “KO” really is that he worked “Shane O-Mac” for close to 40 minutes before getting the victory and sending the WWE faithful in Detroit home in frenzy in what looked like a car crash just as much as a wrestling match.

Credit goes all around in this one as not only did Owens perform brilliantly, but his counterpart did as well. Shane is never going to confuse anyone with a mat wrestling wizard. He’s only wrestled in just over 100 matches in his career which has been spent mostly as an executive but each time he steps in the ring, he gives every bit of himself to his performance. That was evident at HIAC as “The Money” let it all hang out while taking a savage beating from his eventual conqueror.

To nitpick just a tiny bit, the match was a bit too long. 40 minutes is an awfully long time to be out there especially when one guy isn’t all that experienced. But again, that’s a small detail that did nothing to hurt the match quality.

And of course the ending will have everyone talking as Sami Zayn saved his former best friend from Shane’s “Leap of Faith”. Who knows where that will lead but the idea of Zayn and Owens teaming up once again is about as exciting story line that the company currently has running. Many people expected something spectacular Sunday night, and they got exactly that. Owens is the best thing that SmackDown currently has going and his intrigue has now been ratcheted up even higher. Great stuff.
