WWE Rumors: Jinder Mahal Working Events Hurt
By Harry Austen
Current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal may be working live events injured.
Jinder Mahal, who now has a longer reign than Ric Flair and Roman Reigns combined, hasn’t been setting the world on fire as WWE Champion.
His promos have been average, including bit of controversy, and his in-ring performances haven’t been fitting of a WWE Champ.
Not only has being Champion not done him any favours, it hasn’t done any favours for his opponents, most specifically, Shinsuke Nakamura. It may be the case that they have no chemistry, or that Nakamura isn’t all that interested in the feud. Either way, it’s been disappointing to say the least.
It seems as if the company is waiting for the India tour to truly monetise Mahal as the returning hometown hero to greet his ‘people of India’. Effectively, Mahal’s only purpose is to be a cash-cow for his “home-country”.
However, what makes matter worse is that Mahal has been working injured for last couple of weeks. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Mahal has been working with a shoulder injury. This injury has bothering him in recent weeks.
During the same report, Meltzer mentions that the WWE Champion has been wearing Kinesio Tape (which you may have seen Cesaro wear). He has been wearing the tape at WWE live events, however, he has not been wearing tape on SmackDown Live, nor or pay-per-view events. (H/T: Ringside News)
The belief backstage is that the company doesn’t want fans to see him taped up on television to make sure the fans aren’t aware of the injury. Therefore, Mahal is working pay-per-views and blue branded shows injured without protection.

Mahal could take a knock on the shoulder very easily, taking a bump and putting extra pressure on the injury (uncovered), leading to the injury having more severity. It makes sense to a certain extent, not wanting the fans to know about the injury, conversely, the risk doesn’t outweigh the reward. Hopefully, Mahal can recover quickly from the injury, ready for India tour. Because in all honestly, that is all the company seems to care about at this point.
