5. Shane McMahon Returns To Confront Sami Zayn

Last week, SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon was understandably conspicuous by his absence. Not only did he go through a grueling Hell in a Cell match against Kevin Owens, but he jumped off of the top of the structure onto a table after Sami Zayn pulled Owens out of the way. Last year after Survivor Series, Shane showed his toughness by returning to SmackDown Live after being concussed in the five-on-five match by a Roman Reigns spear, so the fact that he was “at home” last week speaks volumes to the way the WWE will play up the impact of that match.

McMahon still despises Owens, as the two have plenty of history between them prior to that clash at Hell in a Cell. But now, Shane has another enemy in Zayn, whom Shane probably respects even less than Owens.

I imagine that Shane will be back tonight, and he’ll have plenty to say to Zayn. He’ll probably admonish Zayn for doing this with the so-called “opportunity” that he’s been given on SmackDown. And when Zayn counters, Shane will remind him of his dreadful losses to Aiden English and others, in addition to his failure to beat Jinder Mahal for the No. 1 contendership to the WWE Championship several months ago.

Shane’s bewilderment at Zayn will be a sight to behold, and a segment involving the three men in SmackDown’s “real” main event could be another golden one.
