The SmackDown Live Tag Team Division
Highlights of the division
The Usos versus Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin will be intriguing but will be a step below from the New Day classic rivalry. Gable and Benjamin must step up to the plate on the mic to distinguish themselves as a true rival and threat to the Usos title reign. They can’t be labelled as American Alpha 2.0, where they are skilled in the ring but are bland outside of it. The reigning tag team champs will have their hands full trying to make this feud an interesting one after the classic they had the past few months with the New Day.
The New Day might be out of the title picture but they could be facing Aiden English and Rusev in the near future. All of these superstars were part of a backstage comedy skit about Aiden English’s singing and Rusev proclaiming his chant of “Rusev Day”. They’ll need to create more of a back story between these two teams to sustain a decent feud for the build up to Survivor Series. One comedy skit won’t be sufficient to warrant a long-term rivalry between them.
Meanwhile, for the rest of the division.
Not quite sure where Breezango and the Ascension are heading with these Fashion Files segments. Is the Ascension turning into a babyface team with these hilarious backstage segments? It seems like Breezango might be on a collision course with Rowan and Harper, based on the “2B” clue that the Ascension spoke of. If that’s the case, it’ll be interesting to see if this path towards the introduction of these monsters back to Smackdown Live will have laughter or horror to lead up to their debut.
Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
