WWE TLC 2017 has taken a dramatic change of pace after the WWE’s breaking news regarding the pay-per-view in the late afternoon stages of Oct. 20.

WWE announced that due to the unexpected medical issues of Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt, two major replacements for each of their individual matches have been announced for WWE TLC 2017.  Reigns will be replaced with WWE Hall of Famer and current Raw GM Kurt Angle in the five-on-three handicap main event featuring the rest of The Shield battling The Miz, The Bar, Braun Strowman, and Kane in a TLC match.

This will be Angle’s first match in the WWE in over 11 years and his return has been something wrestling fans have fantasized over for years.  And in such an expected fashion, Angle’s return to a WWE ring feels even bigger.

The second replacement at TLC will be SmackDown’s A.J. Styles replacing Wyatt to battle The Demon Finn Balor.  Many have questioned the Balor vs. Wyatt feud over the past few months and despite it coming in unfortunate circumstances, Styles vs. Balor is a dream match that many wrestling fans have wanted to see for years.

It’s unfortunate that Reigns and Wyatt cannot be part of TLC as they are two key members of the Raw roster, but the WWE has raised the bar with their replacements.  Not only does having Angle compete in the match raise the status of TLC for the diehard WWE fan, but it also draws attention for past fans that would love to see Angle in the ring again.

Many speculated Angle’s return to a WWE ring would be at WrestleMania 34, but this unexpected twist has shaken Raw up to its very core.  The same can be said for Wyatt’s replacement in the Phenomenal One.  Styles is arguably the best wrestler in the world and having him square off with a superstar the caliber of Balor is a match any wrestling fan would love to see.
