1. “The Demon” Returns – RAW

Finn Balor’s return to the Demon character from Monday night was, in a word, cringe-worthy. His pumpkin colored face once again surfaced in the WWE just in time for him to take on Bray Wyatt at TLC Sunday night. But wait, it’s not Bray Wyatt. It’s “Sister Abigail”. Which actually is Wyatt, but he’ll be playing the role of his female alter-ego, to wrestler Balor who will be playing a demon. Yes, this is actually happening and at some point someone is going to need to take responsibility for how unbelievably bad this entire Balor/Wyatt feud has been. It’s hard to blame the wrestlers, as the two have performed well against each other in the ring. But whoever is pulling the strings backstage needs to be handed a formal disciplinary write-up from WWE management because this has been awful. Criminally awful.

Let’s just take a quick look back as this rivalry. Back in July, Wyatt started the feud with Balor the way most Wyatt feuds start, cryptically. Fine. The duo battled for a month with Wyatt getting a win on an episode of RAW which prompted Finn to revert to his “Demon” to get the win at SummerSlam. That should’ve been the end of the stale feud, right? Nope. It continued on with Finn picking up another win at No Mercy in September in his normal character. So then the feud should’ve mercifully ended, right? Nope. Here we go again as the two will battle Sunday entrenched in all the lunacy laid out in the previous paragraph.

You know, if three months ago someone said not only would Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt carry on a long-standing feud and that feud would be the worst thing either have done in their entire careers, most would assume that the person who said that would need their head checked. But this is sadly the case as some of the worst story writing of all time has railroaded two of the most unique, diverse talents in the entire company. Balor’s promo Monday night was a microcosm of that.

The only way this thing can be salvaged at this point is if after this long feud ends, Balor and Wyatt find a middle ground and team up together. That could be a lot of fun. But at this point, is it too late for either of them? There is a very good chance that this program has done so much damage to both guys that it’s going to take a long time and patience for either to recover. What a joke.
