Update on Roman Reigns’s health following WWE TLC Absence

Unfortunately, The Big Dog missed the WWE TLC pay-per-view last Sunday with a viral illness. Fans have been wondering when he will return, and we may now have an update on Roman Reigns’s health.

Roman Reigns missed the much anticipated Shield reunion at WWE TLC, however, in his place was a worthy Superstar, well, a worthy GM. No, not Daniel Bryan — although that would’ve also been wonderful — but Kurt Angle.

Angle made his return after 11 years away from a WWE ring (I’m sure the company wouldn’t want to mention where he’s been ‘missing’ for those years), and he looked great. However, one person that was on the back of everyone’s mind was The Big Dog.

WWE have been very coy in what they have told us about the recent illness scare making it’s way around the locker room. In the article they posted on their website, detailing the changes to the TLC card, they cryptically mentioned that Reigns and Wyatt were ill, conversely, they didn’t mention the exact illness.

Now, I’m not saying they should be incredibly specific and go in detail about their problem, no one wants to read that, but it just seemed odd that they wouldn’t at least briefly mention the issue.

No need to fear, though, Mr. Observer Dave Meltzer was able to give an update on Reigns’ current health. He confirmed that Reigns is dealing with the mumps, furthermore, WWE have been testing their Superstars for the illness following the news.

Meltzer was also able to confirm that the company will evaluate Reigns next Monday (October 30th) to see if he’s able to return to in-ring action. This means that The Juggernaut could potentially miss Raw again this week, if not cleared.

Meltzer ended by saying that there’s currently a lot of drama backstage, with people worrying about other Superstars contracting the illness.

All in all, it’s safe to say that WWE’s creative plans have been halted just for now. And what an annoyance for creative. Just as it seemed like everything was going right, the illness broke out. However, to their credit, WWE pulled out every trick in the book to make up for it. And for that, I applaud them.

Let’s just hope that Reigns can make his return next week on Raw, and we can carry on The Shield’s momentum heading into next year.
