WWE SmackDown: Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Are Must-See

When Kevin Owens debuted on the main roster during Summer 2015 everything changed.  Two Years later he would join WWE SmackdDown Live and has had a stranglehold on it ever since.

Tuesday nights have effectively become must-watch viewing in the WWE.  One man has taken the weight of the roster on his shoulders and is delivering.  Not Shane McMahon, Not Daniel Bryan, but Kevin Owens.  The very guy who was told by Jim Cornette in Ring of Honor that he’d never make it is now a face of the WWE.  No, he may not be John Cena or even Randy Orton as far as heads of the company, but Owens is definitely knocking on the door.  And WWE SmackDown Live has become the Kevin Owens Show.

Much like his time on the independent scene, Owens has a strong dislike for authority.  The only time he briefly let that guard down was when he was handed the Universal Championship.  When Owens was sent to SmackDown Live in the superstar shakeup, his first targets were Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon.  Owens’ distrust and overall dislike of authority would reach a fever pitch.

The evolution of Owens

As his time on SmackDown Live would progress, things would get more and more hostile.  Whenever something didn’t go his way, Owens would be sure to voice his displeasure.  Whether it was an unfavorable matchup or a disputed loss, Owens would be quick to blame the powers that be.  After a number of losses to AJ Styles, Kevin would put the target solely onto Shane McMahon.

For weeks Owens would make Shane the target of verbal as well as physical attacks.  Each and every opportunity he had to run down the McMahon name he would take the ball and run with it.  Fast forward to Hell in a Cell and Owens would finally get his chance to exact his revenge.  He and Shane would go on to have a brawl inside, outside and on top of the cell.  Both men gave everything they had until the bitter end.  As Shane was preparing to jump onto Kevin from the top of the cell, a guardian angel appeared.

As Shane plummeted to the ground, Sami Zayn would pull Kevin Owens out of the way.  A surprising end to the match as Zayn and Owens have been bitter rivals throughout their time in WWE.  Sami would go on to explain that even though he and Owens didn’t always agree, Owens was right in this aspect.  Shane only cared about himself, not what happened to Owens or anyone else.  So Sami saved his friend from injury and possibly even worse.

Owens and Zayn are must-see TV

This goes to show that Kevin Owens has the control he so desperately craves.  He was able to get into the mind of a man he has beaten time and time again and sway him to his point of view.  When taking a deeper look into the mindset of Owens and Zayn it’s really hard to disagree.  They are fed up with being told one thing only to receive something completely different.  It’s something everyone that has ever had a job can relate with.  We’ve all had the bosses feed us lines and make us promises but when it comes time to follow through, the story has changed.

The relationship with Owns and Zayn is one of the fascinating things happening on WWE tv.  They are technically supposed to be the bad guys, but again, their gripes are all relatable.  It’s hard to hate guys that are fighting for what they truly feel they have earned.  But when it’s all said and done, it’s very clear that Tuesday nights are not for SmackDown Live anymore.  People are tuning in for the Kevin Owens Show.
