3. Eddie Edwards Defends the GHC Championship in Japan

Eddie Edwards made history a few weeks ago by becoming the first American to win the GHC Championship.  He now holds the highest prize in Pro Wrestling Noah and defended it against Naiomichi Marufuji.  This was the third location that  a match has been shown in this show.

This was as back and forth as a match could be with both men reversing the other.  They were basically performing the same moves on each other at the same time.  Marufuji utilizes his stiff kicks against the champion then looks towards the guard rail.  That same guard rail is used against him but Marufuji gets his revenge.  Marufuji takes control with a piledriver on the apron which could’ve put the champion out.  After practically a stalemate in this match, Eddie Edwards finishes this match and retains his championship against Naomichi Marufuji with the Emerald Fusion.

What an awesome match by two of the best wrestlers in the world right now.  It has been amazing what Edwards has been able to do without Davey Richards.  This match proves that wrestling can be worth it when the match is good enough.  One of the things I love about Impact Wrestling is that it is now starting to feel different again.  Fans are getting to see how talented this roster is and realize how many promotions that Impact is working with.
