2. Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon to captain Survivor Series teams
What’s better than one Kurt Angle match? Two, of course.
As punishment for Raw being attacked by SmackDown the week prior, Stephanie McMahon forced Angle to captain Team Raw at Survivor Series, meaning he’ll be in the ring for consecutive pay-per-views. The moment this was announced it became obvious Shane would add his name to the SmackDown team.
From a storyline point-of-view it might not make a ton of sense. Why would Stephanie not prefer to give that spot to a Samoa Joe or Roman Reigns? Likewise, Shane’s place on the team means someone like AJ Styles could potentially miss out.

That aside, adding Angle and Shane to the match raises its stock and makes it feel like a bigger deal.
Their rivalry started out as nothing more than friendly banter backstage at Raw. Then “under siege” happened. Now it’s personal. Angle would love nothing more than to get his hands on Shane, and he’ll get his opportunity at Survivor Series.
Placing the two in the five-on-five match is a better decision than giving them their own singles match. This way they can pick their spots, take fewer bumps but still tell a great story. Less is more in this case.
We’ll see whether the two have any interaction before the event. Both Raw and SmackDown takes place in Manchester, England next week.
