1. WWE releases Emma, Summer Rae and Darren Young

Earlier this week the WWE announced the release of Emma, Summer Rae and Darren Young. Neither was particularly surprising, particularly the latter two who hadn’t been on TV for quite some time. And despite all of Emma’s talents, she’s been misused for years.

Emma’s booking has been eyebrow-raising at best, a downright waste of talent at worst. Her heel character arrogantly bragged that she started the Women’s Revolution, but in reality she did in fact play a huge role. Emma may have never been champion in NXT, but her matches with Paige, Bayley and later Asuka helped raise the stock of women’s wrestling within the company.

Daily DDT’s Warren Hayes wrote a great piece ranking Emma’s top three matches. As expected, all were in NXT. It was her second stint on the main roster where it all fell apart. To say the WWE dropped the ball with Emma and potentially left a lot of money on the table would be an understatement.

Think of the possibility of Emma as a heel champion, possibly teamed up with Australian buddies Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. Talk about an iconic trio (pun intended).

She is far too talented not to succeed wherever she lands, and the WWE’s decision to not #GiveEmmaAChance may ultimately be one they regret.
