On a week full of returns and Survivor Series announcements, what are the five things WWE creative got right this week?

WWE spent majority of this week’s television time building towards Survivor Series in one form or the other. The week started with Stephanie McMahon’s surprise return and the announcement that Kurt Angle would be the Raw team captain. In addition, if the Red Team loses, Angle would lose his job. Perhaps this added stake would contribute some logic towards the brand wars. However, there are still plenty of leaks in the story.

Monday night also saw the returns of Nia Jax, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman. Joe had been away from the ring with a knee injury. However, after his match with Apollo Crews, it’s safe to say he hasn’t missed a beat. No ring rust what so ever. Jax and Strowman too made their presences felt with impressive segments. Additionally, they both have been named as the first members of their respective Survivor Series teams. I can’t help but draw parallels between them every time, starting from the initial squash matches.

Tuesday night picked up right from where Monday night stopped. Shane McMahon wasted little time to bring up what Kane did to Daniel Bryan on Raw. Bryan has an innate ability to generate sympathy. Am sure that will easily transition into the babyfaces on Team Blue, to give it their all. Unlike Raw, SmackDown Live now has the first four members of their team. Next week Rusev and AJ Styles will collide in the ring for a shot at the final spot.

The other spots were filled by the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode this week. This would also mean Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are now out of the picture. What creative has in store for them now is a bit of a mystery. When storylines are able to generate a sense of mystery and genuine interest, we know that creative has done something right. Here are my five picks for this from the week that passed us by.
