5. Rusev gets a win against Big E

Rusev has been stuck in limbo for a while now. His foreign heel antic has hopefully been shelved now. Instead, we now have the more interesting and entertaining Rusev Day angle. Throw in the underused and underappreciated Aiden English and you have something that could work here. The duo has been getting increased air time and before we know it, they could probably end up as a tag team.

The duo has been locking it up with the New Day multiple times over the past week, in entertaining backstage segments. This feud will not get either of these team or the stars anything new. Except of Aiden English, all of them have been in a better place than where they are now. But still, when you are in mid-card purgatory, something is better than nothing. Even if that means a possible throwaway feud between the New Day and Rusev and English.

This week, as a result of a backstage altercation, Rusev and Big E decided to settle their scores in the ring. Thanks to a distraction from English, Rusev Day echoed all over SmackDown Live. Additionally, Rusev was then scheduled to be facing AJ Styles next week, for a spot in the Survivor Series team. However, Shane O’Mac has now announced Styles will be facing Mahal for the WWE title next week. Does this mean Rusev has now earned his place on Team Blue? Additionally, does Styles have a shot at winning the title? Either way, increased screen time and more avenues to show that he has a character beyond the foreign hell gimmick is always a win for Rusev. When it’s a win for Rusev, it’s a win for all of us!
