Check Out A New Film on Wrestling Icon Roddy Piper
Professional wrestling has been known for its great talkers, and few were able to cut more memorable promos than “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. A new film, “Roddy Piper: In His Own Words”, delves into the Hot Rod’s life in a unique way.
Roddy Piper was a former WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion, and his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 capped off one of the most influential careers in the history of professional wrestling. A natural heel who had a charming way with words, Piper epitomized what it means to make wrestling feel visceral to an audience.
But Piper’s life outside of the squared circle is just as compelling, and a recent film is focused on capturing this. “Roddy Piper: In His Own Words” is available to stream at “The Nine Legends Film” website for $7.99.
A percentage of the proceeds from this film will benefit the Doernbercher’s Children Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Piper’s wife Kitty Toombs said of Piper’s special link to the hospital, “Roddy saw first hand during his decades in Portland, Oregon the groundbreaking, good work being done at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Throughout the years he loved giving time volunteering as a celebrity during fundraisers but even more so, just stopping by to roam the halls and chat with the children. He shared with his family how those kids were the real heroes and what they gave him was far more than they ever realized.”
David Sinnot, the producer of the film, made sure to consult with Toombs in order to get the support of Piper’s family.
