1. The Bar Dethroning The Shield Eliminates Marquee Survivor Series Match, But Opens Door For Another
The most surprising development out of last night’s Raw came in the main event with the tag team division on full display. Sheamus and Cesaro got one final shot at Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose’s Raw Tag Team Championship, and they didn’t let the opportunity go to waste.
With Raw being pre-recorded to due being in the United Kingdom, the spoilers were out in full force surrounding this match and the WWE’s official Twitter account even tweeted about it before the show. The Bar’s encounter with The Shield was another very good one and the ending shook everything up.
With both teams seemingly locked in a stalemate, The New Day came out through the crowd and cut a promo. They announced an Under Siege Part 2 as Raw GM Kurt Angle scrambled to round up troops backstage to thwart off SmackDown. But The New Day walked out after psyching out the Raw roster, leading to a distracted Ambrose getting Brogue Kicked by Sheamus and the Celtic Warrior pinned Ambrose to win back the Raw Tag Team Championship for The Bar.
Rollins and Ambrose were set to square off with The Usos at Survivor Series in a champion vs. champion match, but now arguably the most anticipated match at Survivor Series among the WWE universe is off the table. While this appeared to be a big negative, another possibility has arisen for Survivor Series.
Roman Reigns is set to make his return to Raw next week after his recent health issues and if Reigns is able to compete at Survivor Series, a 3-on-3 match with The Shield and The New Day could be in the works for Survivor Series. A match of that caliber is a highly-intriguing match at any pay-per-view, let alone a brand vs. brand pay-per-view.
And with The Bar now the Raw Tag Team Champions again, the matchup at Survivor Series is now set as The Bar vs. The Usos. But with The Usos set to defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin on tonight’s SmackDown, could we see another title change? The possibility is a real one.
As one match eludes the WWE universe, another potentially standout match has presented itself for Survivor Series between the two biggest trios in the WWE.
