WWE SmackDown: Should Carmella’s Cash In Be Successful?
SmackDown superstar Carmella is the first women to hold a Money In The Bank briefcase, should her eventual cash in be a successful one? Will a loss be damaging for the future?
Ever since Carmella won the Money In The Bank briefcase (I guess technically twice, with once on the PPV and then again on SmackDown later), she has held on to it. She’s had James Ellsworth with her at every time but she hasn’t really teased cashing it in much. A big surprise cash in is what she should do, that way we wont see it coming. But should her cash in be a successful one? Could her losing the cash in be harmful to the briefcase and it’s stipulation?
In the case that Natalya (or could it be Charlotte?) loses her match against Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Carmella has the perfect opportunity to cash in and potentially win the title. Not only would Natalya (or Charlotte) be suffering a huge loss, but she wouldn’t see this coming and that is the right moment for Carmella.
The first cash in for the Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase, it has to be a big moment at one of the WWE’s big events. Survivor Series is one of the biggest events, and for this happen would make a huge statement. A loss for the first one just doesn’t make sense, and Carmella is ready to take her place as a Champion.

The win with a cash in really needs to happen for the first one, back in 2005 for the first ever Money In The Bank match Edge won and his cash in was successful and it really paved the way for the rest of his excellent career making him a main event star. The first cash in loss was in 2012 when John Cena failed to capture the title due to a DQ finish, despite technically winning but a title cannot change hands with a DQ unless stated prior. That happened quite a few years after the inaugural match, and between then all of the cash in’s had been successful.
The only two actual losses after cashing in happened to Damien Sandow in 2013 where he lost the match to John Cena. This event greatly upset the fans because it felt like after all his hard work he should have won. Not only that but the loss really damaged him moving forward and it took some time for him to recover. The other loss was earlier this year where Baron Corbin cashed in on an episode of SmackDown but lost after a roll up pin by Jinder Mahal. This has not hurt Baron Corbin, he quickly recovered and is now enjoying his first singles title run as United States champion.
Considering the history of the cash in, it is important that Carmella’s own cash in be successful and pave the way for the future. When the event returns next year and another Money In The Bank match happens with the women, it will be seen as even bigger because the first winner was successful in their attempt.

SmackDown has now really set itself aside with this Brand Exclusive PPV event and having the Money In The Bank matches, and a big win for Carmella cashing in will really solidify that. It makes the SmackDown‘s women’s division highly different from Raw, and it shows that they do trust their division and what they have to offer.
